DO NOT DRINK HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am an outside salesperson. frequently I meet customers for lunch and cocktails during the day to conduct business. Based on a friends reviews of this restaurant and my desire for some unique menu options, I made the suggestion to meet at the bar here for a late lunch and cocktails. This location used to be called Shirt Tail Charlies. Apparently a few years ago it was bought out by some people who upgraded the location etc..the location has a great view of the New River etc..As a first time guest to the bar/restaurant when I came in I said to the "bartender": "This is my first time here! Impress me!" he immediately ran away. No big deal at the time. My customer and I ordered a few vodka cocktails with Grey Goose (we are locals) and fully expected to pay a few bucks more for premium liquer but for $9.00 a drink I want to see a naked lady in front of me not some clown who used to be a bathroom attendent at the Cheetah Lounge . I was presented with a lunch and dinner menu. Let me say this: the menu is outstanding If you are interested in fresh seafood. In my 25 years living in South Florida I have never seen such an outstanding blend of unique fresh seafood offerings. A little expensive ($17-$30) but based on the offerings well worth the $. I grabbed a bowl of lobster bisque for $8 and although it was only about 6oz of bisque it was well worth the price in flavor. Later I had an appetizer of spicy shrimp ($9) that was also excellent. A great blend of spices sauteed to perfection on top of some fresh bimini bread. We had upgraded form the well vodka to Grey Goose and later found out that each drink was $9.00!! the bartender actually said to us: "I know the price is high but I dont tell people about the price of that drink because people are insulted when I tell them the drink price" How about al little Bartending 101 from Kip at the DownTowner Bar ( 1 block away) who would tell you..." hey guys- if you order xyz vodka from 4-6 you can get it for ...." Lesson learned. Here's the most important overall take away from this experience from me (I am a 15 year restaurant employee and a 15 year salesperson TOO restaurants) Go to this place for a GREAT MEAL and an EXCEPTIONAL FOOD EXPERIENCE. If you want a cocktail served at a fair price by a local good bartender.....dont even think of drinking at this place! Just a little side note- My friend was ordering a vodka with iced tea. Now...Ice tea is the most profitable item in the restaurant at .0005 per oz. AND ALSO AN INGREDIENT IN THE DRINK!!!!! each time he ordered the drink, the bartender would put down a bottle of ice tea and made him mix the drink himself AND CHARGE us for a bottle of Ice Tea!!!!!! Our bar bill was $200+ dollars!!!!!!!!! They guy said he worked at stripper bars before The Pirate Bar, now I know where he honed his craft to rip off customers. I tipped him 15% because no matter how bad I am scammed, I stil know the business. HOWEVER - You lost a BAR customer forever at the place and I will go out of my way to make 100% sure my local firends and family NEVER spend a dime at this bar. I'm curious to see how the owners respond to this review and hope they question the bartender on what the hell he is thinking!
